Case Study - Company: An Effective Finance Team for Thomas Miller

The Brief

The Finance department at Thomas Miller – a market-leading provider of insurance services – had been reorganised and had a new leader. The challenge was to improve the effectiveness of the team, so it was more productive, and develop better ways for people to work together to deliver services to internal clients.

The Solution

Joanna spent time with the team leader and another senior manager to understand the challenges in depth and what needed to change in the team. She then designed an ‘away day’ to get the team to clarify their goals, explore the current challenges and look at improvements that could be made. Joanna also facilitated the away day to ensure the whole team contributed and felt heard.

The Result

The day resulted in the development of a plan to make the identified improvements including a process for making sure it was implemented.
